STRUTHERS

Missy Ginnetti, of Struthers, wife of Mahoning County Engineer Patrick Ginnetti, died early Tuesday in the Cleveland Clinic after a battle with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, the engineer’s office has confirmed.

She had undergone chemotherapy and two stem-cell transplants after she was diagnosed with stage 3 Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2010.

Hodgkin’s lymphoma is a cancer that attacks white blood cells, which help the body fight infections.

After receiving a March 2014 transplant at the Cleveland Clinic, where she spent 88 days, she endured a bloodstream infection and graft vs. host disease.

In the summer of 2015, she met the 21-year-old Indiana college student who donated the bone marrow that made her March 2014 transplant possible.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been made, the engineer’s office said.
