Sister Jerome Corcoran to enter Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame

CANFIELD — Sister Jerome Corcoran of Canfield is among 10 older Ohioans who will be honored for a lifetime of accomplishments with induction into the Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame during a special ceremony May 19 at the Ohio Statehouse.

“Sister Jerome Corcoran and the other inductees understand that we should not be defined by our age, but inspired by it. They are a precious resource for our state, nation and the world,” said Bonnie K. Burman, director of the Ohio Department of Aging.

Sister Jerome is a nun, an educator and community activist. She developed programs to support children in school and help adults develop valuable reading and job skills. In 1976, she founded the Millcreek Children’s Center and is cofounder of the Youngstown Community School.
