May is Mental Health Month.
The mental health and recovery boards of Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties are offering a Call a Counselor Event from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday. The number is 866-782-4581.
Licensed counselors will answer questions about depression, anxiety, trauma and other issues affecting individuals and families. Learn more about the signs and symptoms of mental illness and find out what resources are available in your community.
Common signs of mental illness in adults and adolescents can include the following: excessive worrying or fear, feeling excessively sad or low, confused thinking or problems concentrating and learning, extreme mood changes including uncontrollable “highs” or feelings of euphoria, prolonged or strong feelings of irritability or anger, avoiding friends and social activities, difficulties understanding or relating to other people, changes in sleeping habits or feeling tired and low energy, changes in eating habits such as increased hunger or lack of appetite, changes in sex drive, and experiencing delusions or hallucinations.
The mission of the Trumbull County Mental Health and Recovery Board is to improve the well-being of the community by establishing and maintaining an effective, efficient and quality system of alcohol, drug and mental health services in Trumbull County.
