Fugitive nabbed in Boardman traffic stop

BOARDMAN — A traffic stop on Overhill Road late Monday led township police to arrest a fugitive wanted in Virginia for drug trafficking.

Ronald Smith Jr., 45, whose listed address is Evergreen Avenue in Youngstown, now is in the Mahoning County jail awaiting extradition to Virginia on multiple felony warrants related to the sale of cocaine, according to a police report.

Also arrested during the stop was driver Bruce Connelly, 36, of Youngstown, for allegedly operating a motor vehicle while impaired and driving with a suspended license. He also was cited for failing to use a turn signal.
