Earthquakes still under investigation
NEW CASTLE, Pa.
The multiple earthquakes that recently occurred in Lawrence County still are under investigation by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, a DEP spokeswoman said Monday.
Five earthquakes that hit April 25 led Houston-based Hilcorp to halt its nearby fracking operation.
“The investigation is ongoing and will not end until definitive conclusions can be drawn about the incident,” said Melanie Williams, DEP spokeswoman, in an email statement. “It is not known at this time when that will be. DEP will issue a report detailing the conclusions of the investigation.”
Chevrolet launches ChevySmallCars.com
DETROIT
Chevrolet is launching ChevySmallCars.com, an all-new, lifestyle-oriented website focused on its small-car offerings, the Spark minicar, Sonic and Trax small SUV.
ChevySmallCars.com will host content designed with a younger customer in mind and do it in a way that allows visitors to engage and discover Chevy on their own terms. At the heart of it is “Small Talk,” three short episodes featuring the Sonic, Spark or Trax, produced by Funny Or Die and hosted by comedian Al Madrigal. The videos also will be hosted on Funny Or Die.
New technology comes to Chevrolet
DETROIT
Chevrolet is introducing the industry’s first predictive technology, enabling a vehicle to warn its driver about a potential maintenance need before it occurs.
The technology is similar in concept to that on the Boeing 787, which can send in-flight messages to ground crews alerting them of parts needing inspection before the plane arrives. For Chevrolet drivers who opt-in to the service, OnStar Proactive Alerts continually monitors the health of the vehicle’s starter motor, fuel pump and 12-volt battery. If anomalies are detected, OnStar will notify drivers to take their vehicle in for service, reducing unexpected repairs.
The service is available now for OnStar subscribers who own a 2016 Chevy Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban, Corvette or Equinox.
Company recalls 180,000 pacifiers
VAN NUYS, Calif.
About 180,000 pacifiers have been recalled due to a choking hazard.
The federal Consumer Product Safety Commission says the recall involves Munchkin-brand Latch lightweight pacifiers and clips, which are sold as a set. The commission says the clip cover can detach from the clip itself, creating a choking hazard.
Commission spokeswoman Patty Davis says Munchkin is conducting a voluntary recall in cooperation with the government.
There have been 10 reports of the clip cover coming off in the U.S. and Canada, but no injuries have been reported.
The sets were sold between March 2014 and March of this year at retailers nationwide, including Babies “R” Us, Target, Walmart and Amazon.
