Four people arrested on felony drug charges over the weekend were arraigned Monday in municipal court, and a fifth was arraigned for destroying evidence.

Michael Williams, 31, of Mistletoe Avenue, was arraigned on a charge of possession of drugs after reports said officers found 71 painkillers and $3,400 cash on him after a traffic stop just after midnight Monday.

Reports said he was a passenger in a car that was pulled over just after midnight at Hillman and West Florida avenues for having no license-plate light.

Reports said the driver has a suspended license and police found the pills and money on Williams when he was searched.

The driver was cited for driving under suspension and released at the scene.

Judge Robert Milich set Williams’ bond at $5,000.

Three men arrested in separate incidents Saturday and Sunday also were arraigned on felony possession of heroin charges. Lamott Spragling, 50, of Austintown, was stopped about 12:20 a.m. Sunday at Rush Boulevard and East Philadelphia Avenue after a car he was driving was pulled over for expired plates.

Officers found a dose of heroin in the band of a baseball hat he was wearing, reports said.

Arrested about 2 p.m. Sunday at Glenwood and West Earle avenues was Wesley Smidt, 26, of Boardman.

Reports said he was passed out in a car blocking traffic at the intersection and he admitted to police he had a needle and spoon. Police also found a dose of heroin in a cigarette pack, and reports said Smidt told paramedics he had taken heroin about two hours before.

Arrested about 9:30 p.m. Saturday at Sherwood and Glenwood avenues was Victor Boone, 26, of West Indianola Avenue, after he failed to stop at a stop sign. Reports said a records check found Boone has a suspended license, and while he was being searched, he admitted having a dose of heroin in his shorts, reports said.

Judge Milich set bond for all three at $5,000.

About 5:50 p.m. Saturday, Jahnta Campbell, 43, was arrested on charges of tampering with evidence and resisting arrest after an officer said he saw Campbell trying to eat a bag of suspected crack cocaine after he was pulled over at Cottage Grove and East Avondale Avenue for an improper turn. Reports said when the officer walked up the car he could see a plastic bag protruding from Campbell’s mouth, there was a white powder all over his lips and when he talked, a cloud came out of his mouth.

Reports said Campbell eventually pulled the bag out of his mouth, but when an officer tried to take him into custody, he ran away but did not get very far before he was caught. Reports said he was not charged with a drug offense because there were no drugs in the plastic bag.

His bond was set at $17,500.
