AUCTIONS
Austintown Little Falcons Quarter Auction will take place Friday at Eagles Banquet Hall, 1655 S. Raccoon Road, Austintown. Doors open at 6:15 for cash-and-carry vendor shopping, and the auction begins at 7. Cost of $5 includes one bidding paddle, and additional paddles are $3 each. There will be door prizes and a 50-50 raffle. Beverages and snacks will be sold. All proceeds will benefit Austintown Little Falcons.
Women’s Auxiliary of Salvation Army of Mahoning County will host its annual spring basket auction May 21 at Faith Community Covenant Church, 1919 E. Midlothian Blvd., Youngstown. Doors open at 11:30 a.m., and lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. Basket drawings will begin at 1. The $20 nonrefundable donation includes entry, 25 tickets for regular prizes and lunch. Tickets are available for cash only from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Salvation Army building, 1501 Glenwood Ave., Youngstown.
FUNDRAISERS
Avalon Lakes Golf and Country Club, One American Way, Warren, will be the location of the annual Pink Ribbon Golf Classic on July 18. The cost is $110 per golfer. Registration and a continental breakfast begin at 8 a.m. with the shotgun start at 9. The 18-hole four-person scramble will be followed by lunch, a basket auction and raffle. Southside Fine Arts Academy will sponsor a “Paint and Sip” fundraiser from 6 to 9 p.m. May 27 at Christopher’s Downtown, 100 Federal St., Youngstown. All monies collected will support Southside Fine Arts Academy, which provides free fine-arts opportunities to children in kindergarten through 12th grades in the Mahoning Valley. Paint a picture with the help of a qualified art instructor while sipping on fine wine. This is for adults only. Tickets are $35 per person. All art supplies and first glass of wine are included in the ticket price. Tickets are limited to 50 people. RAFFLES
West Side Cats, 2217 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown, will host a Father’s Day raffle and drawing June 18. It will feature a 48-inch Insignia LED TV. Helping Hands Closet at Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road, Canfield, has new and gently used clothes for the entire family. The May special is 50 percent off the entire inventory. Hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Howland Community Church, 198 Niles-Cortland Road SE, Warren, will host a garage, attic and basement sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. There also will be a bake sale. Admission is free.
Ohltown United Methodist Church, 2001 Ohltown Road, Austintown, will host its semiannual trash and treasure sale and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 21. No clothing will be sold. St. Rose Church Catholic Women’s Club will have a rummage and bake sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church rectory garages, 48 E. Main St., Girard. Household items, collectibles, holiday decorations, seasonal items and more will be available. All proceeds will go to the needs of the parish.

St. Andrewes AME Church, 521 W. Earle Ave., Youngstown, will host “A Night of Dinner and Jazz” at 6 p.m. Saturday in the community hall at the church. TRIPS
Jesus the Key Ministries and Men of Faith, the producers of Rally in the Valley, will host a bus trip to Lancaster, Pa, to see “Samson” at the Sight and Sound Theatre and “Crooners” at the American Music Theatre on July 12 and 13. On Dec. 6 and 7 a trip will include “Samson,” a Christmas concert at American Music Theatre and a meal at the dinner theater, the Dutch Apple. Our Lady of Fatima, St. Ann Church, 601 Roemer Blvd., Farrell, Pa., will offer bus trips as a fundraiser for repairs of its church organ. A trip to Seneca Allegany Casino in Salamanca, N.Y., is set for June 14 and 15. Lodging in the casino’s hotel is $155 per person for double occupancy with $70 in bonus rebates. A bus trip to Soaring Eagle Casino Resort in Mount Pleasant, Mich., will take place Sept. 13 to 15. Hotel rooms will be $304 per person for double occupancy with a $100 bonus. Second Baptist Church, 820 E. Patterson St., Alliance, will host a bus trip to Lancaster, Pa., from Aug. 2 to 4. Cost will be $330 per person and will include a motorcoach, lodging for two nights, four meals, “Samson” at the Sight & Sound Millennium Theatre, “Crooners” at the American Music Theatre, Kitchen Kettle Village, Rockvale Square Outlets and a guided tour of Lancaster.
Sutliff Museum’s one day bus tours are open for registration. Underground Railroad sites will be visited. May 24, trip will be to Ashtabula County to see the Hubbard House Underground Railroad Museum, tour the Americana Collection which features Civil War artifacts and Ashtabula history and the Underground Railroad exhibit. Following lunch, travel to Jefferson, exploring sites visited by abolitionists Joshua Giddings and John Brown. Cost is $47. June 25, the trip attendees will take part in the Spring Hill Underground Railroad Experience by playing the role of freedom seekers or runaway slaves (requires extensive walking on uneven ground). The house is open for tours following the reenactment. Lunch will be in downtown Massillon, then visit to the Massillon Museum. Cost is $47. July 13, trip to Salem Historical Society. The docent, dressed as a Salem Quaker, will take passengers to the year 1856 to get a better understanding of the plight of slaves, the working of the Underground Railroad and the abolitionist movement. Lunch will be at the Spread Eagle Tavern in Hanoverton. Cost is $60. The cost for each trip includes transportation, admissions, snacks, guides and insurance. The bus will leave at 8:30 a.m. from the WalMart parking lot on Elm Road and will return by 6 p.m. Trips are limited to 42 people; early registration is encouraged.
