Shenango Valley repaving set

Staff report

SHARON, PA.

A resurfacing project that will provide motorists with a smoother ride on almost 3 miles of roads in Sharon, Hermitage, Farrell and Sharpsville is scheduled to begin this week and be completed by July 12, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced.

No detours are anticipated, but motorists will encounter traffic-lane restrictions controlled by flaggers.

The project will improve:

State Route 418 [Mercer Avenue] for 1.58 miles from a point just south of state Route 518 [New Castle Avenue] in Farrell to U.S. Route 62 [Shenango Valley Freeway] in Hermitage.

State Route 3021 [Forker Boulevard/South Tenth Street] for 1.41 miles from the intersection with Highland Road in Sharon to state Route 518 [Ridge Avenue] in Sharpsville.

Work will include milling and resurfacing, along with updated drainage, curb ramps, guiderail, pavement markings and paved road shoulders.

The contract cost is $1,017,000, which is to be paid entirely with state funds.

The contractor is Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc., of State College, Pa.
