Talk on prison ministry planned in Diocese of Youngstown

To celebrate the Jubilee Year of Mercy, Catholic Charities, Diocese of Youngstown, Criminal Justice and Detention Ministries and the Office of Lay Ministry formation are co-sponsoring talks on prison ministry by Anthony Kobak at six locations throughout the diocese.

Kobak is a volunteer chaplain for the diocese at the Ohio State Penitentiary on Youngstown’s East Side. He has been visiting the super-maximum security prison weekly for the past five years. Kobak will share how God called him to this corporal work of mercy, explain a typical day at the prison and offer various ways to get involved in prison ministry.

All talks are free and open to the public from 7 to 8 p.m. Dates and locations are:

Thursday, Our Lady of Peace Parish Pastoral Ministry Center, 1464 W. Sixth St., Ashtabula.
