Copley 12, Western Reserve 5

AKRON

Western Reserve held a 3-1 lead going into the fifth inning before melting down. Copley’s Jordan Wharton hit a single, a double and a triple. The Blue Devils’ Jake Clark was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs.

Columbiana 6, Lowellville 3

COLUMBIANA

Columbiana (13-8) broke a three-game losing streak. Lowellville led most of the game before a five-run sixth inning propelled the Clippers. Jake Clark (4-3) picked up the victory in relief tossing three shutout innings while striking out six. Zach Fahs picked up his first varsity save pitching a scoreless seventh inning. The breakout sixth inning started when Josh Herbert drew a leadoff walk. Pinch runner Levi Birch stole second and scored on a double to center field by Tim Davin. The Clippers loaded the bases and Mitch Davidson tied the game with an RBI single. Fahs also scored on the play after an errant throw to give the Clippers the lead.

Jackson-Milton 10, Southington 0, 5 innings

NORTH JACKSON

Zak Lane pitched a one-hit shutout in the shortened game striking out eight for the Bluejays (15-5). Eric Ostrowski had three hits including a double and five RBIs. Justin Rentz, Scott Mitchell and Lane each had two hits as well. Robert Pepus had the lone hit for Southington (10-8).

Warren Harding 10, Hubbard 6

HUBBARD

Mark Herron had three hits, two RBIs and a double for the Raiders (9-10). Matt Williams had two hits including a double while Doug Painter had two hits as well. Ryan Love had two RBIs for the Eagles (17-8). Kent Kroynovich and Anthony Laird had two hits apiece and Brett Lopuchovsky smacked a double for Hubbard.

SOFTBALL

Jackson-Milton 11, Southern 2

SALINEVILLE

Sierra Pierce picked up the win, striking out 13 Southern hitters while slugging a home run, racking up two RBIs and scoring three runs in a blowout win. Amy Ritchie, Taylor Sahli and Korie Groff each had two hits for the Bluejays (9-12).

Howland 8, Mathews 1

HOWLAND

Gabby Hartzell and Hannah Kowach combined to limit NAC champion Mathews to three hits. Hartzell got the win, striking out four while giving up a run on one hit and two walks. Kowach pitched the final three innings and gave up just two hits while striking out three. McKenzie Maze was 2 for 4 with a double, ReAnn Litz had two hits, including a double and two RBIs, and Leah Pollifrone collected three hits. Mathews made six errors in defeat.

Ursuline 10, Beaver Local 0, 5 innings

YOUNGSTOWN

Jordyn Kenneally pitched a five-inning no-hitter, striking out 11 in the process. Megan Ross had three hits and two RBIs while Janessa Rich had a triple and three RBIs. Gia Calderone also had two hits, including a double.

West Branch 8, Austintown Fitch 1

LIBERTY

Kelsey Byers moved to 11-0 on the year, striking out 13 and allowing just one hit in the win. Bailey Byers had a double and three RBIs while Kylie Coffelt had two triples and an RBI for the Warriors (20-3). Kayla Kelty had the one hit for Fitch.

Austintown Fitch 4, Cardinal Mooney 2

LIBERTY

Alex Franken struck out 10 in the Falcons’ victory. Kayla Kelty, Ashia Walker-Forest and Erin Harper each had two hits for Fitch (9-11) while Julia McMenamin had an RBI single. For Mooney (10-13), Jamie McLay had three hits — a single, double and triple — and Gia DiFabio had a double and an RBI.

South Range 4, North Royalton 3

LIBERTY

The Raiders (21-3) pushed across the winning run in the seventh inning. Codi Taylor had three hits and a double while Lydia Baird and Hope Thomas had two hits each. Felicia Gaeta added a double. Pitcher Caragyn Yanek had 10 strikeouts while walking just one.
