New Bethel Baptist Church, 1507 Hillman St., will conduct two Mother’s Day services Sunday.
The 7:30 a.m. service speaker will be the Rev. Dr. Robin Woodberry, daughter of the Rev. Gena Thornton.
Minister Cynthia Layton, daughter of the late Rev. Lonnie Simon, will speak at 10:40 a.m.
Open house planned at Paradise Church
CANFIELD
Paradise Church, 10020 New Buffalo Road, will host an open house from 1 to 3 p.m. May 15.
Activities and entertainment will be available for all age groups.
Children may view biblical puppet shows and participate in Sunday school activities.
Continuous musical entertainment will be provided in the sanctuary.
Members will share information regarding two Bible study groups, church mission projects, festivals and activities.
Beaver Township Ruritan, Boy Scouts, South Range Council of Church and Community and Community Day Camp will have displays in fellowship hall.
Refreshments will be provided.

Weekend retreat set at Villa Maria
VILLA MARIA, PA.
Villa Maria Education and Spirituality Center will host a weekend conference retreat, “Re-Envisioning the Second Half of Life,” from 7 p.m. Friday to noon May 15 with international presenters Michael Morwood and Maria Kelly.
Morwood has more than 40 years of experience in retreat, education, parish and adult faith-development ministry. He is the author of nine books on spirituality and the need to re-shape Christian imagination and thinking.
Kelly has qualifications in education, theology and gerontology. She is a Sage Circle Facilitator and a member of Sage-ing International.
This retreat is an invitation to people in the second half of life to explore the source of their faith in the context of their lived experience. Its focus is the link between inner wisdom and a contemporary spirituality.
The retreat is based on the conviction that people can move from merely age-ing to sage-ing by consciously choosing how they want to live their later years.
Cost is $250 and includes program, lodging for two nights, meals and refreshments and commuter option for $200 that includes program, lunch and dinner meals and refreshments.

Project and speaker
YOUNGSTOWN
Faith Fellowship Church of God, 388 E. Midlothian Blvd., will fill a large shipping container with 50 hospital beds, mattresses, sheets and wheel chairs today.
The supplies will be shipped to two hospitals operated by the Church of God in Ghana, South Africa.
On Sunday, guest speaker for the Mother’s Day service at 10:45 a.m. will be Joyce Mitchell, wife of Pastor Jonathan Mitchell.
A rose will be given to each mother in attendance.
Rhoda Wise shrine
YOUNGSTOWN
Bishop George V. Murry of the Diocese of Youngstown signed a formal decree erecting Rhonda Wise Shrine Inc. as a private association of the faithful in accord with Canon Law.
Rhoda Wise Shrine, located in Canton, owns and maintains the property association with the stigmatic and mystic, Rhoda Wise, who became known in the 1930-40s after several healings and reports of visits from Jesus and St. Theresa, the Little Flower.
The non-profit corporation lists its purposes as: To educate and promote the religious, charitable, and educational purpose of the Roman Catholic Church; to educate and promote devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the rosary and St. Theresa of Lisieux; to preserve the memory of Wise; to support the possible official petition for a cause for canonization, which is in the initial stage; and to preserve and maintain the sacred objects and property associated with Wise, including the shrine.

Musical program
YOUNGSTOWN
The Women’s Day Committee of Tabernacle Baptist Church, 707 Tabernacle Boulevard, will present “Travel the Gospel Road” at 4 p.m. May 15. It will feature soloists from the Valley.
There will be a free-will offering.
Guided labyrinth walk set for May 15
VILLA MARIA, PA.
Villa Maria will host the first guided labyrinth walk of the season from 2 to 4 p.m. May 15 on the grounds of Villa Maria Community Center.
The ongoing series will take place monthly through October.
Participants are invited to meet at the outdoor labyrinth to prayerfully walk the grass path after receiving thematic instructions from the presenter.
The labyrinth at Villa Maria is a replica of the one found in Chartres Cathedral in France. It appears that labyrinths were used as a walking meditation for the spiritual seeker.
Walks are offered at no charge. Free-will offerings are accepted to help continue services that VMESC offers.
