HOWLAND
The Tigers scratched across one in the 10th inning to win walk-off style. Dylan Beasom went 4 for 5 with a walk and two RBIs while Craig Lewis went 3 for 4 scoring three runs. Zach Campbell also went 3 for 5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Louie Cardona went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored for the Spartans.
Hubbard 14, Campbell 1
HUBBARD
Anthony Laird led the Eagles (17-7, 6-4) with two hits, two RBIs and a double and Ryan Love tacked on two hits and four RBIs. Colin Shinosky drove in two runs and got the win for Hubbard with three strikeouts and no walks. Yanni Koullias doubled for the Red Devils (8-12) while Ian Sewell took the loss, giving up six walks.
Poland 16, South Range 1
POLAND
Anthony Calcagni, Dan Klase and Don Drummond led Poland with two hits and three RBIs each, and Matt Baker tacked on an additional three hits and two RBIs and got the win for the Bulldogs. Kelly Keenan doubled for South Range (13-10, 5-2) while Nick Deal took the loss.
Brookfield 10, Struthers 7
STRUTHERS
Brian Hiner led the Warriors with three hits and an RBI and Alex Clark had three hits and two RBIs. Mason Morell went 2 for 3 with an RBI while Pat Carano went 3 for 3 with a double and an RBI.
Cardinal Mooney 6, Fitch 2
AUSTINTOWN
Bryce Richey led the Cardinals in scoring with two RBIs and tacked on a double and a walk while Devin Curd contributed three hits. No stats were reported for Fitch.
SOFTBALL
Hubbard 7, Springfield 5
HUBBARD
After the Tigers went up 2-0 in the top of the first, the Eagles came back to score four runs in the fifth to take a lead they wouldn’t relinquish. In that fifth inning, Addy Jarvis had an RBI single which was followed up by a two-run triple by Morgan Kist. Michaela Cavalcanti had three RBIs to lead the Springfield offense.
Ursuline 13, Struthers 3 6 innings
YOUNGSTOWN
The Irish scored seven runs in the first inning in a run-rule game on Senior Night. Jordyn Kenneally improved to 14-3 by striking out eight and walking none in her work on the mound. Janessa Rich clubbed a home run while McKenzie Shells and Cassandra Hanuschak had doubles. Shells had three RBIs while Megan Ross had three hits in the win.
Garfield 5, Grand Valley 4
GARRETTSVILLE
Katie Synnestvedt’s sacrifice fly plated Callie Pfile and gave the G-Men a walk-off win. Hannah Smith went 3 for 4 with two home runs and four RBIs. Pfile scored two runs and Brenna Tabor smacked a double in the victory. Daniyele Shreve had a home run and two RBIs for Grand Valley.
West Branch 8, Marlington 0
ALLIANCE
Bailey Byers dominated for West Branch (19-3, 10-2), going 5 for 5 with two home runs and six RBIs. Ashley Weber also contributed two hits and an RBI and Dani Lough tacked on an additional hit. Olivia Powers led Marlington (16-8, 6-5) with two hits, including a double, and Maddie Myers and Alyssa Powers each had singles.
Canfield 4, Conneaut 0
CANFIELD
Ally Sammarco led the Cardinals (16-7) with a single and two RBIs while Kayla Troxil tacked on a double, drove in another run and pitched a shutout. Bridget Oatnan took the loss for Conneaut, giving up three walks and four runs.
Valley Christian 11, East 1
BOARDMAN
Iliana Suarez led the Eagles with two hits while Sarah Rodgers, Arlivian Cheirs and Michelle Limbeck each scored two runs. Limbeck also had five strikeouts in he sixth win of the season.
Richmond Edison 6, Cardinal Mooney 3 9 innings
YOUNGSTOWN
Edison pushed across four runs in the top of the ninth and held on for a road victory. Megan McConnell, Maria Jolly and Amy Morrison connected with consecutive base hits in the decisive inning. Mooney had the bases loaded in the eighth and ninth innings but managed to only scratch across one in the ninth. Sydney Shugart pitched all nine innings, not allowing any earned runs until the ninth.
Alliance 5, Salem 0
SALEM
Nautica Longaberger hit a home run and singled for Alliance. Cheyenne Bylene had two doubles and Sheila Talbert added two singles for the Aviators. Pierce Jackson pitched a complete-game shutout. Katie Moore had two hits for Salem.
