The orchestra consisting of students from Boardman Glenwood Middle School and Boardman Center Middle School put on a performance for Boardman elementary school students at the Boardman Performing Arts Center on April 8.
Kindergarten through second-graders from the Boardman elementary schools took a mini field trip to the Boardman Performing Arts Center to listen to a concert put on by the middle schools’ orchestra. The orchestra performed several songs from different music eras. A student came up to the microphone prior to the performance of each song and gave a brief introduction of the song.
The students were encouraged to sing along with the song “Shut Up and Dance with Me,” by Walk the Moon as the orchestra played. Many of the students got into the groove of things and danced as well as sang along.
When the sing-along ended, the orchestra performed a melody of Elvis Presley songs. The orchestra was able to make a smooth transition from one song to the next without a pause.
The elementary school students had the opportunity to enjoy a morning full of music while spending time with their friends and classmates.
