Jordan Helmick, daughter of Ron and Lisa Helmick, was recently awarded Triple Gold Cups as a young pianist within the National Federation of Music Clubs.
On March 12, Helmick performed before multiple judges at Youngstown State University’s Bliss Hall. It was there that she achieved Unanimous Superior ratings in piano theory, solos J.S. Bach’s “March in D Major,” Catherine Rollin’s “Gypsy Rhapsody” and “Celebration Concerto” by Olson, 3rd mvt.
As this was her third consecutive year for Unanimous Superior ratings, she was officially credentialed for gold cups.
Helmick is presently preparing her attendance at the Piano Guild and Musical Arts Festival in the coming month, wherein she will compete with other pianists of the same distinction. If she wins Musical Arts, it will be her second First Place Trophy and prize win at this competition.
In March 2017, Helmick will perform in an honors recital at the Ursuline Motherhouse in Canfield, to be orchestrated by her dedicated teacher, Diane Debiec, with whom she has studied for the last three years. She also studied with Hayley Ward one year prior to Debiec.
Helmick is a seventh-grader at Canfield Village Middle School where she has run middle school cross country and track. She is a golfer, swimmer and junior gardener at Mill Creek Metroparks. Her other interests include reading “Harry Potter” books, enjoying 80s music, movies and relaxing with family.
