Boardman residents know John Landers as their School Board member since 2010. What they may not realize is besides serving the educational needs of Boardman students, he will soon sit on a national panel that considers the current and future information technology issues that affect higher education.

Landers is the manager of the ITS Project Management Office at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. He was selected among his peers to serve on the EDUCAUSE IT Issues Panel during 2016. The panel is comprised of chief information officers, senior IT and library leaders and faculty members from across the United States.

Panel members are responsible for meeting quarterly to identify and discuss the issues they believe currently impact or will impact higher-education IT practice. Then, they must agree on which seem most important. The resulting list is transformed into the annual EDUCAUSE Top Ten IT Issues List.

“The Top Ten IT Issues List has become a trusted source of information for decision-makers and strategists,” Landers said. “I look forward to representing Case Western Reserve in this forum and working with my colleagues from other institutions to shape the list.”

Landers joined Case Western in June of 2009, and was elected to Boardman’s Board of Education in November of the same year.

“John’s a Boardman alumni, who is committed to the educational excellence of his alma mater,” said Boardman Superintendent Frank Lazzeri. “This appointment was a great selection on their part and a great honor so early in John’s career. We all applaud his accomplishment.”
