UPDATE | Guilty verdicts in Austin and Henderson trial
YOUNGSTOWN
A jury today in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court has found Michael Austin, 22, guilty of three counts of murder, one count of murder and engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity.
Austin was found not guilty of a separate charge of attempted murder.
Hakeem Henderson, 24, was found guilty of two counts of aggravated murder, not guilty of two counts of aggravated murder, and engaging Ina pattern of corrupt activity.
Prosecutors said the pair committed the murders as enforcers for a drug ring on the East Side.
Judge John M. Durkin has yet to set a sentencing date.
Killed Nov 13, 2011, was Adam Christian, 23, followed by the murder three days later of Raymond "Ramel" Hayes, also 23. Killed while they were in a car on Benford Lane in September 2012 was Ryan Slade, 20 and Keara McCullough, 19.
Austin was found guilty of three counts of aggravated murder and murder for the death of McCullough.
Henderson was found guilty of the Christian and Hayes murders.
Also a man was shot in December 2012 on the South Side. He lived.
Four others will be tried at a later date for their roles in the case.
