Johnny Manziel: The former Cleveland Browns quarterback has been booked and posted bond in a domestic violence case, one day before he faces his first court hearing. Manziel attorney Robert Hinton said Wednesday that the 23-year-old quarterback presented himself for booking and a mugshot. Police in Highland Park, a wealthy Dallas enclave that’s separate from the city, released the mugshot Wednesday afternoon. The Heisman Trophy winner and former Texas A&M star was indicted by a grand jury last month after his ex-girlfriend alleged he hit her and threatened to kill her during a night out in January. Manziel faces a Class A misdemeanor that carries up to a year in jail and a $4,000 fine.
Indianapolis Colts: First-round draft pick Ryan Kelly signed on Wednesday. Taken with the 18th pick, Kelly is expected to be the starting center for quarterback Andrew Luck. Terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed but first-round picks typically sign four-year deals with a fifth-year team option. The 6-foot-4, 313-pound Ohio native was a three-year starter at Alabama and part of two national title teams.
Seattle Seahawks: Five players were released, including former starting center Drew Nowak. Seattle made the roster moves Wednesday ahead of their rookie minicamp this weekend. Along with Nowak, the Seahawks released running back Cameron Marshall, tight end Ronnie Shields, defensive end Josh Shirley and wide receiver Tyler Slavin. Nowak won the starting center job out of training camp last season. He started seven of the first eight games before being replaced permanently by Patrick Lewis. The Seahawks drafted three offensive linemen last week. Shirley played in five games last season for Tampa Bay.
