UPDATE | Fambro testifies he killed woman at motel

William Fambro testified today that he killed Teresa Hunter last October by grabbing a gun she hit him with and shooting her multiple times.

Fambro's blockbuster testimony came as a shock to court onlookers as he became the first defense witness and first witness in the trial today.

Fambro said after shooting her, he heard gurgling for a few minutes and then it stopped, and he left the Riverview Motel and got a ride from Felecia Staggers, whom he had called earlier to come get him.

Fambro said he was in a state of shock because of what happened and decided not to call police because he felt sure they would not see the scenario the way it happened.

He collected the gun when he left the room, but Staggers is the one who decided to throw it in the Mahoning River that afternoon, Fambro said.
