Two-day festival mixes bike tour with doughnuts


NEW WILMINGTON, PA.

New Wilmington will host its inaugural Tour de Donut Bike Tour starting at 8 a.m. June 4 at Westminster College’s Memorial Field House, 319 S. Market St.

Cyclists of all levels may choose from 10-, 30- or 60-mile tours. Water, sports beverages and fruit will be provided.

During the tour, a doughnut-eating challenge will be offered along each route. A doughnut medal will be awarded to riders that eat six doughnuts during the 10-mile ride or a dozen doughnuts during the 30- and 60- mile routes.

Register for $20 by May 15 at www.livenewwilmington.com/donut to ensure a limited edition T-shirt and doughnuts. Registration will be available after this date, but the shirts and treats will be provided first come, first serve. Email livenewwilmington@gmail.com for information.

The cycling tour is offered in conjunction with New Wilmington’s Donut Daze event from 5 to 8 p.m. June 3. The event is a celebration of National Doughnut Day and will offer a doughnut-themed crawl, games and music on Market Street.
