TODAY
Holy Family Parish, 2729 Center Road, Poland, will sell takeout-only cavatelli dinners with homemade sauce from 2:30 to 6 p.m. or until sold out. Meal includes two meatballs, tossed salad, bread and butter, and dessert for $9. A smaller portion of cavatelli and one meatball will cost $5. Pasta fagioli will be sold for $6 a quart and sauce for $5 a quart. Place your order, remain in your car, and your dinner will be delivered to you.
THURSDAY
Poland United Methodist Church, 1940 Boardman-Poland Road, will serve homemade dinners to go. Starting at 3:30 until the drive-through runs out, baked stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and green beans will sell for $7. Drive to the front of the church, and someone will hand you a dinner to go. There’s no need to preorder or get out of the car.
Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road, Canfield, will host a drive-through chicken dinner from 4 p.m. until sold out for $8 each. A stuffed chicken breast comes with mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans and a brownie.
FRIDAY
Canfield Lions Club will have a fish fry from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at A La Cart Catering, 429 Lisbon St. Meals comprise a choice of baked or fried fish; french fries, macaroni and cheese, pirogi or haluski; and coleslaw, green beans, roll, dessert and beverage. The cost is $11. Carryout meals will be available; seating is limited.
Christ the Good Shepherd at St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell, will sell potato, prune and kraut pirogi. The cost is $6 a dozen. Frozen pirogi will be sold while supplies last. Phone orders may be made from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday and beginning at 8 a.m. Friday at 330-755-1316. Orders can be picked up starting at noon. The last sale of the season will be May 27. Sales will resume in September.
Christ Our Savior Parish at Holy Trinity Church, 250 Bridge St., Struthers, will sell potato, cabbage and lekvar pirogi. The cost is $5.50 a dozen. There is a limit of three dozen cabbage pirogi while supplies last. Orders will be taken from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Friday at 330-755-0064. No walk-in orders will be accepted. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Containers will be provided.
Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown, will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod or fried haddock; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; bread and butter; and coffee or tea. The cost is $11 for adults and $6 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.75. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 330-792-1005.
Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church, 526 W. Rayen Ave., will take orders for freshly made each week potato and potato with kraut pirogi for $6 per dozen. No containers are necessary. Orders should be placed from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday and from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday at 330-746-9528 and are to be picked up between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Friday at the church hall. Hot lunches will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
St. Paul the Apostle Church, 10143 Main St., New Middletown, will sell potato, sweet cabbage and cottage cheese pirogi for $5.50 a dozen. Orders can be called to 330-542-3525 from 7 to 11 a.m. Thursday and Friday. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday. Walk-ins are welcome. Last sale of the season is May 13.
St. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave., Youngstown, sells potato, kraut and cottage cheese pirogi on Fridays. Advance orders will be taken at 330-747-3024 from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday and Friday. Pickup will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $6.50 per dozen. Pirogi lunches will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Walk-in orders are welcome.
SUNDAY
St. James the Apostle Church, 4019 Route 422, Pulaski, Pa., will host a breakfast brunch Mother’s Day buffet from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The menu comprises French toast, sweet cheese filling, buttermilk and buckwheat pancakes, peach and maple syrups, scrambled eggs, eggs with peppers, onions and cheese, home fries, bacon, ham, sausage, toast, cinnamon rolls, hot and cold cereals, coffee, tea, juices and milk. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children.
St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church will serve a Mother’s Day buffet from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Byzantine Center at the Grove, 3801 Shady Run Road, Youngstown. The buffet will feature homemade wedding soup, stuffed cabbage, pork with apples, stuffed chicken breasts, haluski, cavatelli with meatballs, Italian-style vegetables, tossed salad with mixed greens, pie dessert table, fresh fruit display and a chocolate fountain. It also includes soft drinks, iced tea, lemonade, hot coffee and tea. Beer and wine will be available. The price, which includes tax and gratuity, is $25 for adults, $10 for children 6 to 10 and free for kids 5 and younger. Major credit cards are accepted. Advance reservations are requested. MONDAY
Mahoning Valley Association of Churches will sponsor its annual Taste of the Faiths at 5:30 p.m. at St. Charles Church hall, 7345 Westview Drive, Boardman. The event features churches, congregations and fellowships that share favorite or speciality foods. There are appetizers, salads, main dishes and desserts. Campbell Knights of Columbus, Council 13466, will host a pancake breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 15 at St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell, to benefit the activities of the council. Breakfast will include eggs, sausage and potatoes, coffee or juice. There will be a 50-50 raffle, a basket auction and a lottery-tree raffle. The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children 4 to 10.
