AUCTIONS
Salvation Army of Mahoning County Women’s Auxiliary will host its annual spring basket auction May 21 at Faith Community Covenant Church, 1919 E. Midlothian Blvd., Youngstown. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and lunch will be served at 12:30. Basket drawings will begin at 1 p.m. The $20 nonrefundable donation includes entry, 25 tickets for regular prizes and lunch. Tickets are available for cash only from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Salvation Army building, 1501 Glenwood Ave., Youngstown.
BINGO/CARD PARTIES
Greek Catholic Union Lodge 164 and St. Mary Church are hosting a bingo fundraiser Sunday at Assumption Social Center, 356 S. Belle Vista Ave., Youngstown. Doors open at 4:15 p.m. and bingo starts at 6:45. Local groups who will benefit are the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley, St. Vincent dePaul Society kitchen and Beatitude House of the Tri-County area.
BOOK SALES
Lepper Library of Lisbon will host a book sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. There will be a wide selection of adult, teen and children’s books; audio books and movies. The prices are: hardbacks, 50 cents; paperbacks, 25 cents; magazines, 10 cents; audios and DVDs, $1; all children’s books, 25 cents; and videos, 50 cents each or 3 for $1. The sale will take place in the library garage off Vine Street. The book sale also will take place during the Lincoln Highway Sale this summer and this fall during the Johnny Appleseed Festival.
FLEA MARKETS
Saxon Club, 710 S. Meridian Road, Youngstown, will open its annual flea market Tuesday. It will continue each Tuesday through October, weather permitting. Hours are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Vendors are permitted to set up early. Spaces can be rented for $5. Typical items available include household goods, books, tools and collectibles. Refreshments will be available. Set up for vendors will be free only Tuesday. Proceeds will be used to maintain the club’s parking lot.
FUNDRAISERS
Avalon Lakes Golf and Country Club, One American Way, Warren, will be the location of the annual Pink Ribbon Golf Classic on July 18. The cost is $110 per golfer. All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society. The 18-hole four-person scramble will be followed by lunch and a basket auction and raffle. New Bethel Baptist Church Hospitality Ministry will host its eighth annual Spring Hat Extravaganza luncheon at noon Saturday at the Maronite Banquet Center, 1555 S. Meridian Road, Youngstown. Guest speaker will be Sister Lynn Phillips of Mount Calvary Pentecostal Church. The cost is $20. Guests are urged to wear their favorite hat. Men are welcome. There will be vendors and door prizes. Shrine of Our Lady, Comforter of the Afflicted, 517 S. Belle Vista Ave., will host a fundraiser raffle for a 65-inch Samsung television at 1 p.m. Sunday. The winner need not be present. Boardman United Methodist Church, 6809 Market St., will host a spring trash and treasure sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. Lunch, bake sale and beverages will be available. Thursday will be bargain-bag day.
Christ Community Church, 531 Neoka Drive, Campbell, (across from Four Season Flea Market) is hosting a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. Fill a bag for $2 on Saturday. There will be something for everyone.
Girard Junior Women will host its annual trunk sale, rain or shine, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 21 at Girard Municipal Courthouse, 100 N. Market St. To reserve a spot for $15 each, call Laura at 330-545-5962. All proceeds are donated to the Girard community.

Helping Hands Closet at Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road, Canfield, has new and gently used clothes for the entire family. It will be closed Tuesday but sales will resume May 10. The May special is 50 percent off the entire inventory.
Heritage Presbyterian Church, 1951 Mathews Road, Poland, will have its annual rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, bargain bag day. Clothing, household items, kitchen items and more will be available.
Hickory United Methodist Church, 240 N. Hermitage Road, Hermitage, Pa., will sponsor a good used clothing sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, which is dollar bag day.
Hubbard First United Methodist Church, 48 Church St., will host its annual rummage and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, fill a bag day for $2. Poland Lions Club is sponsoring a Treasures of the Trunk Sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 11 at Poland High School Stadium parking lot, 3199 Dobbins Road. TRIPS
Jesus the Key Ministries and Men of Faith, the producers of Rally in the Valley, will host a bus trip to Lancaster, Pa, to see the show “Samson” at the Sight and Sound Theater and “Crooners” at the American Music Theatre on July 12 and 13. On Dec. 6 and 7 a trip will include “Samson,” a Christmas concert at American Music Theatre and a meal at the dinner theater, the Dutch Apple. Our Lady of Fatima, St. Ann Church, 601 Roemer Blvd., Farrell, Pa., will offer bus trips as a fundraiser for repairs of its church organ. A trip to Seneca Allegany Casino in Salamanca, N.Y., is set for June 14 and 15. Lodging in the casino’s hotel is $155 per person for double occupancy with $70 in bonus rebates. A bus trip to Soaring Eagle Casino Resort in Mount Pleasant, Mich., will be Sept. 13 to 15. Hotel rooms will be $304 per person for double occupancy with a $100 bonus.
