The Youngstown State baseball team scored the final four runs and got four shutout innings of relief from Jared Wight in an 8-4 victory over Canisius on Saturday afternoon at Eastwood Field. The Penguins evened the series to set up a rubber match on Sunday at noon, which is an hour earlier than the game was originally scheduled.

Gerrad Rohan went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, including one on a bases-loaded walk in the fifth that accounted for YSU’s go-ahead run. Lorenzo Arcuri had a game-high three hits, walked and scored twice at the top of the order for the Penguins.

Canisius got a two-out, two-run single from Christ Conley in the top of the first to take a 2-0 lead on YSU starter Jeremy Quinlan. The junior-right hander bounced back with three straight zeroes, which allowed the Penguins to rally.

Quinlan allowed four runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out six batters in his five innings to earn his second win of the season. Wight surrendered one hit and two walks while fanning three in four innings for his second save.

Arcuri hit a one-out double and scored on Rohan’s bases-loaded walk in the bottom fifth as YSU went back on top 5-4. Shane Willoughby then doubled and avoided the tag at the plate on Arcuri’s single.
