Sophia Gault to be bride of Brett Ekkens

The engagement of Sophia Gault of McDonald and Brett Ekkens of Akron is being announced by the couple’s parents, Patricia and Frederick Gault of McDonald and Mark and Susan Ekkens of Caledonia, Mich.

The couple’s 2 p.m. open ceremony will be an event of June 25 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in McDonald.

Invitations will be extended for a reception to take place that evening at Ciminero’s Banquet Centre in Niles.

Miss Gault is a graduate of the University of Mount Union with a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education. She is an elementary physical education teacher with Austintown Local Schools.

Mr. Ekkens also holds a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education from UMU. He earned a master’s degree in sports science and coaching administration from the University of Akron where he is employed as an offensive-line coach for the UA football team.
