Pugels mark 70th wedding anniversary

John H. Pugel and the former Hermina (Mina) M. Perechlin, now residing with family in Lorain County, formerly lived in Girard and Niles for many years. They marked their 70th wedding anniversary April 27.

The couple met as pen pals while Mr. Pugel was stationed in Persia (Iran) during WWII, and married in 1946.

Mrs. Pugel is a homemaker and has been employed as a telephone operator, florist and butcher’s assistant. Mr. Pugel retired in 1974 from Truscon Steel Division of Republic Steel of Youngstown.

They have two children, Brenda J. Kovach of Lorain County and John T. Pugel of Girard; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
