ATHENA AWARDS

Several women from Lawrence and Mercer counties were honored for their professional achievements, their contributions to their communities, and their examples of leadership and mentoring of the next generation of female leaders at the fourth annual Lawrence/Mercer County ATHENA Award Celebration on April 19.

The ATHENA Leadership Award honorees were Amiee Mathews of Rebound Physical Therapy & Wellness; Brenda Eagan Brown of the BrainSTEPS Brain Injury School Consulting Program; Diane Gardner of LPL Financial; Dr. Missa Eaton of Citizens Bank; Kathy Strange of Sharon Regional Health System; Margaret Lucas of Margaret T. Lucas Attorney at Law P.C.; Nicole Gabrielle Walsh-Petrosky of the Acacian Moon; and Toni McKay of Starbound Entertainment.

The ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award honorees were Andrea Paulden of IDShield; Brittany Hampe of The Maker’s Place; Kaitlin McElrath of Shaver’s Barber Shop; Kathryn Tiefenthal of St. John Paul II Elementary School; Molly Corbett Bundrant of Sharon City Counsel; and Nicole Cassano of Nicole Cassano Photography.

This year, the ATHENA Organizational Award was presented to AWARE, which works with victims of domestic, sexual and elder abuse.

RETAIL

Dollar General recognized Patricia Stigliano of Hermitage, Pa., as its Divisional District Manager of the Year for her outstanding performance in 2015 at a company awards ceremony celebration in Nashville, Tenn.

Out of more than 750 Dollar General district managers, Stigliano was one of nine divisional district managers recognized this year for their ability to consistently exceed expectations, further Dollar General’s mission of serving others and help customers save time and money.

Cassidy Advertising & Consulting LLC, a full-service advertising agency located in Howland, recently announced that office manager Hailey Cassidy is a recent inductee of Beta Gamma Sigma, a premier business honor society.

Cassidy is a junior student at Youngstown State University in its accredited Williamson College of Business Administration. She is on pace to receive her bachelor’s degree in just three years – graduating from YSU in May 2017.

To be eligible for Beta Gamma Sigma, students must rank in the top 10 percent of the sophomore, junior or senior classes or the top 20 percent of the master’s program.

LAW

Atty. Frederick S. Coombs III, a creditors’ rights lawyer with Harrington, Hoppe & Mitchell Ltd., will be among the speakers at an upcoming Midwest bankruptcy conference.

Coombs will be part of a June 1 panel discussion at the O’Neill Great Lakes Bankruptcy Institute, scheduled for June 1-2 in Cleveland, on student loans and other debts that do not get discharged in bankruptcy. The annual event draws professionals who manage troubled companies, lawyers, bankers and accountants for seminars and discussions on a variety of bankruptcy issues.
