Charities will receive honors from hospital

Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley will honor Ronald McDonald House Charities of Mahoning Valley and Western Pa. as the champion for our valley’s children at the sixth annual celebration dinner May 10 at The Lake Club, 1140 Paulin Road.
The creation of McFamily Respite Centers at the Beeghly campus and the neonatal intensive care unit at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital came about with the generosity and support of Ronald McDonald House.
Donors, volunteers, staff and community partners will be recognized as Champions for Our Valley’s Children.
The Children’s Advocate Award will be given to Boys and Girls Club of Youngstown, M&M Golf Classic, Phil and Sandy Reda, Joe Staffeld, Warren Junior Women’s League and Youth Leadership Mahoning Valley. This award recognizes individuals and organizations in the Valley who exhibit the spirit of caring and make a difference in the lives of children in our community.

In 2015, 2,152 donors contributed $2.8 million for local programs and services. More than $16.4 million has been donated since the opening of the Beeghly campus in 2006.
