UPDATE | Public's help sought as manhunt continues
YOUNGSTOWN — Law enforcement officials are asking for the public's help to locate a suspect that led them on a manhunt overnight.
Anyone with information about Luis Cruz Ramos should call 866-4-WANTED or text 'wanted' to TIP-411.
The search for Ramos now will be led by the U.S. Marshals Service, which was among the agencies staked out at Lake Park Cemetery on Midlothian Boulevard until about 10 a.m. today.
After ending the stake-out, law enforcement agencies now will begin following up on leads and contacting anyone who might have information about the suspect's whereabouts, Dan Deville of the Marshals Service said.
"We start at square one. Friends, family, acquaintances, employers," he said. "It's going to be a long day."
Campbell police say they were tipped off Tuesday about Ramos by a girlfriend who called police and told them that she fled the Murray Avenue residence she stayed at with him because he held her against her will.
The incident began when Ramos reportedly fired shots at a police cruiser after Campbell police attempted to arrest him on a warrant just before midnight. After shots were fired, he led several police agencies on a chase.
Youngstown police Chief Robin Lees said shots were fired at one of his cruisers when the chase reached the city but no one was hurt.
