Investigators said they have a suspect, and a bulletin was issued to be on the lookout for a man.

The woman’s juvenile son was placed with relatives.

Lying to police

AUSTINTOWN

Officers arrested a woman after she repeatedly called township police for a non-emergency matter.

According to the police report, she called police multiple times when she couldn’t get into her apartment despite being advised the issue wasn’t a police matter. On the suspect’s final call, she told the dispatcher someone had broken into her apartment, prompting the dispatcher to send officers to investigate. Reports said the woman admitted to lying because she wanted officers to help her get into her apartment.

Officers arrested Cassandra Santiago, 21, of Compass West Drive, for disrupting public services Monday night, as she tied up both the emergency and nonemergency phone lines.

2 fires at same house

HUBBARD

A vacant house in Hubbard fell prey to two separate fires within 12 hours.

Firefighters responded at about 10:30 p.m. Thursday to Rosser Avenue near Jacobs Road for a fire at the back of the building. They had doused those flames by about 1:45 p.m.

But they responded to the same home the next day at about 9 a.m. for a separate fire at the front of the building. That fire destroyed the house.

Eagle Joint Fire District Chief Ron Stanish said he believes the fires were set intentionally, but said it would be impossible to know for sure because flames engulfed any potential evidence. Liberty and Brookfield fire departments also responded.
