Athletics coming to Eastern Gateway in fall 2017

YOUNGSTOWN

Eastern Gateway Community College launched a plan this afternoon to start an intercollegiate athletics at the college.

The college plans to begin men's baseball and women's softball teams in fall 2017.

College officials also hope to offer men's and women's basketball. A group of volunteers will work with Jimmie Bruce, EGCC president, to raise funds for the teams, which will be called the Eastern Gateway Gators.

The initial fundraising goal is $100,000.
