The Dana Chorale’s spring concert will be Friday at 7:30 p.m. at St. Columba Cathedral, 159 W. Rayen Ave., with the theme “A Voyage of Melody: Schubert to Rutter, America to Korea, Barbershop to Spiritual.”

The program will feature many different genres, from standard choral literature to spiritual to popular song to barbershop, and several cultures and languages.

This concert also will function as a preview of the Dana Chorale’s benefit concert for young musicians, hosted by Judson University and Chicago Korean Musicians Association, on Saturday at the Prairie Center for the Arts, Schaumburg, Ill. The chorale will present two other concerts for high schools in Ohio on the way home.

Friday’s concert at St. Columba will feature the newly created barbershop ensemble, One Achord.

Featured soloists are Brianne Samson, soprano (Sharon, Pa.), Victor Cardamone, tenor (Pittsburgh), Paul Hill, baritone (Youngstown), Emilio Santiago, tenor (Hermitage, Pa.), Cayla Conrad, soprano (Geneva), Kathleen Brown, soprano (Pittsburgh), Anna Helkel (Bethel Park, Pa.) and Sam Gregory (Pittsburgh).

The concert will be directed by Hae-Jong Lee, associate professor and director of choral activities of Dana School of Music, and accompanied by Kathy Miller and Diane Yazvac.

Admission is free and a free-will donation is welcome.
