Industry and labor center hosts April 9 workshop

The Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor is hosting its fourth Toolbox Workshop at noon April 9.

The public is invited to attend this free event featuring Barbara Powers, director of the State Historic Preservation Office for Inventory and Registration at the Ohio History Connection in Columbus.

Powers will speak on “Learning about the National Register of Historic Places and National Historic Landmark Programs.” The event is sponsored by AmeriCorps, the Ohio History Connection, Youngstown State University and the Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor, 151 W. Wood St.

The Toolbox Workshop series is designed to provide historical-society members, volunteers, historians and all interested individuals with information, education and fellowship with like-minded community members.

It brings history professionals to the area who share their experiences and knowledge.

The next workshop, “Artwork Collections Care,” will feature artist and Soap Gallery owner Daniel Rauschenbach. It will take place at noon April 30 at the Soap Gallery, 117 S. Champion St.

Rauschenbach will discuss artwork and the best practices for storage, cleaning and displaying treasures.
