Jury selection begins in murder trial for man accused in 2014 shooting

YOUNGSTOWN — Jury selection is underway in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court for a man accused of a 2014 murder.

Keith Sims, 27, of Ford Avenue, is on trial before Judge Maureen Sweeney on a charge for the Oct. 25, 2014, shooting death of Shaniece Wells, 23, of Maplewood Court inside a home in the 800 block of East Boston Avenue.

Ford was a suspect immediately after Wells died and turned himself into police just two days after she was killed. He has been in the county jail since then.
