Austintown Local Schools will host a senior citizens dinner at 4 p.m. April 12 in the cafeteria of Fitch High School, 4560 Falcon Drive, for Austintown seniors ages 65 and older. Austintown school board members, student groups and school staff will serve dinner, and students from the high school band and choir will entertain. Tickets for the dinner are $2, and reservations are required by April 5 to 330-797-3919.

Austintown Senior Center, 100 Westchester Drive, has planned the following: Monday, active exercise at 8 a.m., 30 minutes with God and piloxing at 9, senior spinning (I), bingo, painting class and computer Firefox at 10, lunch at noon, and computer class on Facebook at 1 p.m. and body pump at 1:15; Tuesday, active exercise at 8 a.m., pilates and video class on physics at 9, S.O.S. at 9:30, bingo and crocheting at 10, line dancing at 10:30, chair yoga at 11:30, lunch at noon, ballroom dancing at 12:30 p.m. and AARP choir at 1; Wednesday, active exercise at 8 a.m., 30 minutes with God, pilates/yoga, video class on forensics and blood pressure checks at 9, bingo, computer iPad class and senior spinning (E) at 10, $3 pizza party at noon, ukulele class at 12:30 p.m., computer security class at 1 and body pump at 1:15; Thursday, active exercise at 8 a.m., video class on the Civil War at 8:50, vets helping vets and wood carving at 9, S.O.S. at 9:30, chair yoga and crocheting at 10, knitting at 11 and lunch/grocery bingo at noon; and Friday, active exercise at 8 a.m., 30 minutes with God, video class on military blunders and senior spinning (S) at 9, senior spinning (E) at 9:30, bingo at 10 and fencing at 10:30. Gathering Place program will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 11 at Lord of Life Church, 550 N. Broad St., Canfield. There will be a speaker from the Canfield Police Department at 11:30. Lunch will be provided for this free community outreach social program offered to all senior citizens on the second Monday of each month. A variety of games and activities are offered. Girard Multi-Generational Center, 443 Trumbull Ave., is sponsoring an AARP Tax Aide Program for those with moderate to low income and all senior citizens each Tuesday and Thursday through April 14. No appointments are taken; taxes are done first come, first served from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. For information on required documentation, call the center at 330-545-6596.

Guardian Angels of Ohio, a volunteer program of Trumbull County Probate Court, is looking for new volunteers to receive training to become advocates who reach out as friends to seniors who may need a friendly phone call, a visit in a nursing home or a visit at home. Angels also are involved in planning special events for seniors such as health fairs and Make a Difference day projects. Niles S.C.O.P.E. Senior Center, 14 E. State St., is offering free tax preparation by the AARP Tax Aide Program for those with moderate-to-low income and for senior citizens with simple returns, each Friday through April 15. Taxes will be done by appointment only from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A dental van will visit the center from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday. A hygienist will be available for cleanings or a dentist for dental procedures, and are free to those whole qualify. Stop by the center or call 330-544-3676 to register for any of the events.

Senior Independence Senior Center of Mahoning County, 1110 Fifth Ave., Youngstown, will offer income tax preparation with AARP tax experts by appointment only from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mondays and Fridays through April 11. Seats are still available for a trip to the Horseshoe Casino in Cleveland on April 7. Cost will be $30 for members and $35 for nonmembers. The group will leave the center at 8:30 a.m. to go to Sunrise Assisted Living of Poland for a 9 a.m. breakfast. A shuttle will be provided for those parking at Poland Methodist Church starting at 8:45. During the trip, bingo, 50-50 and prize drawings will be offered. Upon arrival, a $25 casino slot incentive will be given to participants. The group will depart at 4 p.m. Casino trips also are planned for July 29, Sept. 29 and Jan. 24, 2017.
