Employees cut from Trumbull County power plant

WARREN

There will be seven fewer permanent employees working at the Clean Energy $800 million power plant than originally expected.

The Trumbull County commissioners approved a resolution last week that modifies the number of employees at the facility from 26 to 19 and their annual payroll from $3.4 million to $1.67 million.

The employee and salary information was part of a county and Lordstown agreement that gave the company 100 percent tax abatement for 15 years.

The agreement now also indicates that Worley Parsons Group Inc. will be the plant operator.

The private financing for the project was scheduled to close last week, said Julie Edwards, a planner with the county planning commission.

The facility, located in Lordstown Industrial Park on Henn Parkway off state Route 45, has a May 2018 scheduled start date and will result in 450 construction jobs for three years.
