LAKE MILTON

The 11th annual Sunshine Benefit Golf Outing will take place July 16 at Lakeside Golf Course, 2404 SE River Road. The event is a three-person scramble and will include a continental breakfast and lunch at the turn. Cocktails are included. A steak fry will follow at Magilla’s Sports Bar, 255 Four Mile Run Road, Austintown, where winners of a 50-50 raffle, basket auction and hole winners will be announced.

The cost is $225 per team. Dinner for nonplayers is $30 each or $50 for two. Hole sponsorship is $100 or $50 for an ad. The committee is accepting gifts for the auction and monetary donations.

To participate in any way, call Jim Krokoski, 330-507-3734; Mark Kellerman, 330-397-7652; Dale Brady, 571-292-0264; or Johnny Mashishka, 330-519-6753.

Proceeds will be donated to Koby Simmons, 4 years old, who was diagnosed last June with acute lymphocytic leukemia. Koby undergoes chemotherapy and other treatments weekly at Akron Children’s Hospital. Treatments are needed until September 2018. He is the son of Andria and Rob Simmons of Youngstown.

His father is a mail carrier in Warren and his mother has a master’s degree in nursing but is unable to work because she cares for Koby and his siblings.

The committee that sponsors the event has reached out to businesses and their families in the Mahoning and Shenango valleys to defray medical costs of more than $100,000 in the past.
