YOUNGSTOWN

An employee of a Crescent Street toy company was booked into the Mahoning County jail Wednesday on an assault charge after co-workers said she started a fight when she was told to go home early.

Reports said officers were called about 5:10 p.m. to Maui Toys, 1275 Crescent St., on a report of a fight, and when they arrived, witnesses told police that Diana Acre-Gonzalez, 21, of South Garland Avenue, was told to go home for the day. Reports did not say when she was told to go home.

Acre-Gonzalez went to the lunchroom and hit a woman in the face, and when a man tried to get her to stop, she punched him in the face, reports said. Two other witnesses told police Acre-Gonzalez attacked the woman as well, reports said.

A Spanish speaking officer had to be called because Acre-Gonzalez does not know English. When he arrived, she told police she was attacked and she was defending herself.
