Alleman art exhibit at gallery
Staff report
YOUNGSTOWN
“Liminal,” an exhibition of works by regional artist Eric Leroy Alleman, will open Friday at Soap Gallery, 117 S. Champion St., downtown, and run through April 23. The event will include live music. Admission and parking are free.
“I am trying to reconcile disparate thoughts, feelings and physical realities in me,” Alleman said of his art. “Trying to find a balance between ability and disability, calm and chaos, useful and useless, valued and worthless. These are things I deal with every day in my life, so I deal with them in the work I make.”
Allman will transform a portion of the gallery into a temporary studio, making new pieces and adding to the pieces displayed during the opening event and periodically throughout April.
