Austintown Intermediate School hosted its second annual Family Bingo night on Feb. 26.

The AIS PTA programs hosts several fundraisers throughout the school year to raise money for the students. The funds earned provide activities for the students like room parties, fun day and science fair.

“We have a great turn out this year, it’s so much better than last year. Last year we only had around 25 presales, this year we had over 100 presales. It’s really going good,” said Jennifer Gatto, PTA member and chairman.

Students lined up to watch a man making balloon hats and to get one for themselves. There were concessions for people if they wanted to eat, a cutout for people to stick their head through to get a picture and four baskets that would be given away to the winners of a basket raffle.

Several rounds of Bingo were played and guests could purchase more cards to up their chances of winning. Instead of stampers, beans were used to cover the numbers so the cards could be reused for multiple rounds.

Most of the adults played Bingo while the children got their balloon hats made.

The event lasted three hours and all of the money made will be used for the students and providing different activities.

The PTA started organizing the event in November and has worked for months to prepare.

The PTA has a few large fundraisers that bring a lot of attention. There is a pep rally in the fall and in the summer there is a golf outing for AIS and Austintown Elementary school.
