Would-be robber at McDonald's held by citizen until cops arrive

YOUNGSTOWN — A would-be robber at the Fifth Avenue McDonald's restaurant on the North Side was tackled by an onlooker about 1 p.m. today.

The man held the robber down until police arrived. The robber was taken to the Mahoning County jail.

Witnesses said the robber tried to grab a cash register before he was tackled.

Police are on the scene collecting evidence.
