Men arraigned on Bloomfield Township tire-dumping charges

NEWTON FALLS

Two men associated with a state Route 87 North Bloomfield repair shop were arraigned this week in Newton Falls Municipal Court on open-dumping charges.

They are accused of dumping tires March 9 along North Park Avenue Extension in Bloomfield Township.

Richard E. Geist, 67, of North Bridgen Road, North Bloomfield, and Charles E. Blosser Jr. of Oak Street Southwest in Warren, were released after posting a personal-recognizance bond, meaning they didn’t have to pay anything. They return to court April 5.

Both are affiliated with Old Fart Garage LLC, 1637 state Route 87, according to a deputy with the Trumbull County Sheriff’s office, who investigated.

The deputy said a citizen reported seeing the men dumping the tires from a van and recorded the license plate of the van, which is registered to Geist and the repair shop.

When the deputy went to the repair shop the next day, Blosser admitted dumping the tires. Geist also spoke with the deputy and agreed he and Blosser would return to retrieve the tires.
