With Easter Sunday arriving in less than a week and roughly 80 percent of all Americans expected to observe the holiday in some way, the personal finance website WalletHub took a close look at 2016’s Best & Worst Cities for Easter Celebrations. To find out which cities promise the most egg-citing time March 27, WalletHub’s number crunchers compared the 100 largest cities across 13 key metrics, ranging from “number of Easter egg-hunt events per capita” to “percentage of Christian population” to “Easter weather forecast.”
v Pittsburgh: Has the highest number of candy stores per 100,000 residents, 14.70.
v St. Louis: Tied with Cincinnati and Birmingham, Ala., for most churches per capita.
v Orlando, Fla.: Highest number of brunch restaurants per 100,000 residents, 49.16.
v Cincinnati: Tied with St. Louis and Birmingham, Ala., for most churches per capita
v Birmingham, Ala.: Highest percentage of Christian population, 63.11 percent, and the highest number of churches per 100,000 residents, 214.45.

West Side Cats plans fundraiser

West Side Cats will have a fundraiser event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 2 at Davidson’s Restaurant, 3636 Canfield Road.
It will include a raffle and basket auction. Tickets may be purchased at the West Side Cats Shelter, 2217 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown, Tuesday through Saturday from 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., or call Marie at 330-519-5002. Tickets also may be purchased at the restaurant.
Fitness equipment to be auctioned
CHESTER, W.VA.
Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack and Resort will auction off pieces of fitness equipment along with a free standing, collapsible building that once served as a fitness center for guests, on April 2. The public is invited to attend and bid on a variety of fitness-inspired items that will be available.
The building and fitness equipment are in “like new” condition.
This auction is a result of ongoing renovations at the hotel.
The auction begins at 10 a.m. A preview will take place today from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m.

Vanhoose murals at DNA gallery

An exhibit titled “The Murals on Park” featuring work by local artist R. Jason Vanhoose will open Saturday with a free reception from 7 to 10 p.m. at DNA Studios Gallery, 137 S. Park Ave., and run through April 26.
All pieces are for sale.
The exhibit includes Vanhoose’s recent series of large scale portable murals and the previous paintings that inspired the new murals.
