Pavlik enters not-guilty plea to assault charge
YOUNGSTOWN — Former boxing champion Kelly Pavlik, 33, of Sugarbrush Drive in Canfield, entered a written plea of not guilty Tuesday and waived his arraignment in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court on a charge of felonious assault.
Pavlik was indicted March 17 by a grand jury for the charge, which stemmed from an attack on a man in August with a pellet gun as the man was trying to dig a lake at Pavlik’s home.
Investigators said the attack was captured on cell phone video and texted to the victim.
The case was assigned to Judge John Durkin with a pretrial hearing date set for Tuesday and a trial date of April 18. Pavlik is free on $25,000 bond.
