Austintown Optimist Club honors Oratorical and Essay contest winners

SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR | During the Austintown Optimist Club’s dinner meeting on March 8, the club honored the winners of its Oratorical and Essay Contests. The contests were open to all eighth grade Austintown School students, and both contests allow the first place winners to continue to a zone competition, and from there, possibly regional or district competitions. The contests are held in accordance with the rules set by Optimist International. Johnna Blystone, left, was the first place winner in the girls’ oratorical, and Cooper Smith placed first in the boys’ category. Joshua Corll won the essay competition.
