Youngstown NAACP chapter calls for ouster of Superintendent Stephen Stohla

YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown Chapter of the NAACP is calling for the ouster of the city schools superintendent.

George Freeman Jr., NAACP president, listed 16 issues that the organization has with Stephen Stohla, interim city schools superintendent. Failing to hire math, English and certified teachers as well as failing to provide a safe environment for East High School students is among the issues.

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People recommends that Ben McGee, former superintendent, be named the new interim superintendent and also that he be considered for the chief executive officer position.

McGee said this afternoon that “at this time, I’m not interested.”
