Taste of Austintown winners announced

SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR GFWC Ohio Austintown Junior Women’s League hosted its ninth annual Taste of Austintown scholarship fundraiser on Feb. 27 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary social hall in Austintown. The event entertained more than 300 guests with food, wine and dessert samples from 18 vendors, music and a basket raffle. Prize winners were Steven Bernard, Matt Schriner and Kaija Dattilo of Barry Dyngle’s Restaurant and Pub for best of the taste; Kim Hoover of Kim’s Confections earned accolades for best presentation; and Jackie Retomonto of Rachel’s Restaurant and Catering received the judge’s choice best of the best award. Judge Dr. James Shina, left, presented the prize to Retomonto with assistance from fellow judges Barb Kliner and Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini.
