Probation extended for John Dellick

YOUNGSTOWN

John Dellick, 21, of Canfield, had his probation period extended after violating the terms of his probation in January.

Atty. David Betras, Dellick’s legal counsel, said Dellick is no longer on house arrest but will continue probation for 90 additional days.

Dellick, the son of Judge Theresa Dellick of Mahoning County Juvenile Court, appeared Monday in county common pleas court.

According to a Boardman police report from Jan. 3, an officer was called to the Red Roof Inn on Tiffany Boulevard South because a guest left a handgun there. Reports said Dellick was the last guest who rented the room.

Dellick was not allowed to be around guns as a condition of his 19-month probation after he was convicted of aggravated assault in 2014.

Cops: Suspect tried to give false name

YOUNGSTOWN

Reports said a man arrested on a traffic stop Sunday afternoon tried to give police a false name even though he had his real name tattooed on his forearm.

Reports said a car driven by Jawan Anderson, 22, of West LaClede Avenue, passed a cruiser on patrol about 4:55 p.m. and immediately turned into the drive of a vacant home in the 200 block of Hilton Avenue on the South Side.

When the officers stopped to see why he had so abruptly turned into the drive, reports said Anderson told police he was visiting a friend.

Anderson gave police a false name but officers were suspicious because he had “Jawan” tattooed on his arm. He told police that was his brother’s name. Officers found Anderson has a warrant and police confirmed it was him. When he was taken into custody, he tried to run away before he was caught.

Anderson is in the Mahoning County jail on the warrant for a traffic charge, as well as additional charges of obstructing official business and escape.
