‘Too Naked for the Nazis’ wins odd book-title prize

LONDON

“Too Naked for the Nazis,” the story of a music-hall act that outraged authorities in Hitler’s Germany, has won an award for the year’s oddest book title.

Organizers of the Diagram Prize said Friday that Alan Stafford’s cultural-history tome gained almost a quarter of votes cast, narrowly beating “Reading From Behind: A Cultural History Of The Anus.”

The prize, founded in 1978, is run by the British trade magazine The Bookseller and decided by online voting. Its rules say the books must be serious and their titles not merely a gimmick.

Other finalists this year included cult-film study “Transvestite Vampire Biker Nuns From Outer Space” and photo book “Soviet Bus Stops.”

Previous winners include “Bombproof Your Horse,” “Living With Crazy Buttocks” and “Highlights in the History of Concrete.”

Colorado landlord: Trump supporters need not apply

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.

A Colorado landlord will let dogs with good references live in the apartment he rents, but not anyone who backs Donald Trump.

Mark Holmes warned Trump voters not to call in an ad he placed last week for the two-bedroom apartment that’s part of his home in Grand Junction.

The 62-year-old told The Daily Sentinel that he doesn’t know what to do anymore about the possibility of the GOP front-runner getting elected but that he doesn’t want to live upstairs from someone who backs Trump.

One caller accused Holmes of discrimination, but excluding renters based on their political affiliation isn’t prohibited by federal law as is barring them based on sex or race.

Holmes’ voicemail box was understandably full Monday, and he couldn’t be reached for a comment.

Police: New Mexico man chased women with chain saw

ROSWELL, N.M.

A New Mexico man is facing charges after police say he chased two women around a Roswell house with a chain saw.

KRQE-TV in Albuquerque reports that Miguel Carrasco was arrested recently after the attempted attack with the power tool.

Police say the 44-year-old Carrasco started up a chain saw after he and the two women had been drinking. According to officers, the women told police Carrasco pointed the chain saw and thrusted it toward them.

The women also told officers he chased them with the tool around a kitchen table and the house until they were able to escape.

It was unclear what prompted the attack.

Police say Carrasco was arrested after the women contacted authorities.

It was not known if he had an attorney.
