Man found sleeping behind the wheel in the middle of the road faces OVI charge

LIBERTY — A man faces charges of driving under the influence after police purportedly found him sleeping in a car in the middle of the road early Sunday.

Officers responded to the 900 block of Ravine Drive about 2:45 a.m. and found Edward Murray, 40, of Youngstown slumped over the wheel, according to a police report.

When police arrived, the car was in "drive" with Murray's foot on the break, the report states.

Police reported waking Murray after putting the car in "park." He declined to take a blood alcohol content but smelled of alcohol, had slurred speech and had difficulty keeping his balance, police said.

Murray's vehicle was towed and he was also cited for impeding traffic.
