City man arrested for domestic violence

YOUNGSTOWN — Reports said a woman was beaten bloody late Monday afternoon after her boyfriend was upset she didn’t respond fast enough when he called her.

Police were called about 5:35 p.m. to a home in the 500 block of East Avondale Avenue, where reports said Deondre Davis, 45, who lists the home as his address, was standing in the yard yelling he was going to beat the woman’s “a--,” several times, when officers Mark Semper and Anthony Trimble pulled up.

A woman who was down the street then walked toward the officers and said she was the one who called police. Reports said the woman told officers she was cooking dinner when Davis, who was upstairs, asked her to come up and talk to him.

Reports said the woman finished what she was doing and went upstairs, where Davis was upset she did not respond quickly enough. The two also argued over another woman Davis is seeing and how he was paying her bills, reports said, and he started punching her in the face. The woman managed to run away and call police.

Reports said Davis told the woman just before he was handcuffed he was going “to beat you in front of the police,” and he did not care what happened to him. Reports said when officers searched Davis they also found a crack pipe in his pocket.

The woman had a bloodied face, and her clothes were covered in blood, reports said.

Davis was booked into the Mahoning County jail on charges of domestic violence and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is expected to be arraigned in municipal court today.
