YWCA to host Stand Against Racism event

YOUNGSTOWN

The YWCA of Youngstown will sponsor the fourth annual Stand Against Racism event from 9 to 11 a.m. April 29 in the Ohio Room of Kilcawley Center at Youngstown State University.

The event will bring together members of law enforcement and the community to encourage dialogue on working together to eliminate racism.

As part of the event, the YWCA is asking children in grades kindergarten through 12 to share their thoughts on racism.

Forms are available at ywca.org/youngstown.

There will also be a screening of a “Lucky Zip Codes” TedTalk by Amy Hunter, which explores how lives are shaped by the ZIP code we’re born into.

Sponsors include First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown, Mahoning Valley Sojourn to the Past, YSU Bitonte College of Health and Human Services, The James & Coralie Centofanti Center for the Health & Welfare of Vulnerable Population, and YSU Office of Student Diversity Programs.
